Legacy Publishing is a full-service oral history firm owned and operated by Bonnie Kozek. Using a comprehensive process – personally tailored to meet the particular needs of each client – Bonnie Kozek provides a service both unique and invaluable. As a professional writer and adept oral historian, she exhaustively reseraches the background of her subject, then uses that information to develop the biography in the person's own words using the Q & A approach. The result is a far-reaching narrative that provides the reader a window through which to see into and share in the subject’s life and times. A Legacy Publishing oral history is a gift for both family and friends. It is a gift that is in a class by itself, and only grows more sui generis with the passage of time.

"My husband's oral history started as "conversations", one hour at a time, growing into weekly visits, and extending for two years, essentially because he so enjoyed Bonnie Kozek's earnest interest in his thoughts, and because she was so skillful in eliciting recollections, philosophical musings, and opinions on matters as diverse as "business, bubbles and brisket". Her carefully researched questions and comfortable manner prompted his articulations of thought processes which had led to business and life decisions -- all emerging as a true view of his style and guiding principles. The product of these conversations is a book which is an authentic sound portrait: a constant reference for his family, an abiding and treasured biography, and an intimate history of the man and the times. The pleasure he derived from Bonnie Kozek's interviews is magnified in the pleasure these conversations continue to bring to the generations. Her work in this field is unique and immensely valuable. "For my eightieth birthday, my wife planned a weekend get-together for family and close friends. All total, there would be over fifty people. Although my birthday was over a year away, I wanted to arrange for a gift to give to those in attendance – something special for a group of people very close to my heart. A friend suggested a biography. In fact, he showed me his own biography, a large and beautifully bound book – which included interviews and color photographs – written by oral historian Bonnie Kozek. It was the perfect idea. I hired Bonnie Kozek and met with her for a total of 30-hours over the next six months. In the beginning I was a bit self-conscious about talking about myself, but I was immediately put at ease. Bonnie Kozek has many talents. Among them, she is thoroughly engaging, erudite, and inquisitive. She was able to draw me out, and even when conversing about personal minutiae, she combined a sense of wonder with an uncanny ability to broaden out the subject matter and put it into some relevant historical context. In addition, without even using one single note during our meetings, her expansive knowledge and well-researched preparation always led to poignant questions. She always knew just how to keep the conversation going in an interesting direction, and I enjoyed every minute of the process. The result of my interviews with Bonnie Kozek is a masterfully created oral history of my life. It’s a book that is now treasured by family and close friends, and, indeed, it surpassed even my greatest hope for that very special gift I was looking to give to those I love."
